For our Founder Gemma, looking after yourself doesn't mean adding more to each day’s to-do list. Instead, she sticks to small habits that support her energy, are easy to do and genuinely make a difference. How she approaches evening self-care is no different.
Discover the mini rituals she relies on to switch off, help her skin, body and mind recover, and make sure she wakes feeling good and ready to go.
First stop: shower & skincare
I get home from my radio show around 7.40pm and usually take Benji for a quick walk to stretch my legs after sitting at a desk. Then, once I’ve got the kids to bed, it’s shower time - the real start to my evening self-care.
I wash my face with our Nourishing Cream Cleanser and leave it on for a few minutes while I shower. It doubles as a super-soothing and nourishing mask, instantly making my skin fresher and primed ready for my Night Cream (honestly, Angela, our amazing Lead Product Developer, really worked her magic with this one!).
Our Night Cream is so light, silky and comforting - no fussy massage or long-winded application needed and no heavy, over-rich feel on skin. It takes seconds to apply, sink in and get to work. It’s packed with rejuvenating Hematite, soothing Ashwagandha and Dawnergy™ - a unique peptide that acts like a power bank for tired skin.
“I’m so proud of our Night Cream and the incredible difference it makes to skin while I’m asleep. Genius!”

Next up; my other evening skincare non-negotiable: our Energising Body Lotion. I know lots of our Gem & Tonic customers love using it after a morning shower, but it’s my night-time go-to. It contains magnesium-rich Olivine, Arnica and Squalane which I find really relaxes my muscles and soothes my skin. It takes a minute or two to apply, absorbs right away and makes me look and feel much better by morning.
And so to bed…
Once my skincare is done, Gorka and I sit down with a herbal tea and often a quick episode of whatever series we’re watching (I wear blue-light-blocking glasses so my sleep isn’t disrupted later), then around 9:30pm I head upstairs.
I stretch for a few minutes on my red-light therapy mat (another body and skin recovery booster), then it’s lights out, satin eye mask on to block any ambient light and time to sleep.
“I’m a real advocate that you don’t need to overhaul your life to look after your wellbeing. My evening routine doesn't take long, fits my lifestyle and - when repeated every day - helps me feel my best inside and out. I hope it helps you too!”
