Hematite

Hematite
Gem & Tonic gemstones
At Gem & Tonic we use Hematite in our Replenish & Rescue: Hydrating Face Cream, which is formulated to effortlessly enhance your natural glow, leaving you with a beautifully refreshed, youthful appearance, no matter how busy your day.
Rich in iron, our Hematite active helps to restore the skin's texture and tone. Bringing the energy of the earth to help renew the skin, this active helps to optimise the production of good quality and functional collagen, helping to plump the skin and assist with the reduced appearance of wrinkles.
Every Gem & Tonic product is enriched with natural gemstone extracts, specially selected for their proven, multi-action benefits. The gemstones in our products are sustainably sourced from the earth and are COSMOS certified by ECOCERT.
The latest technology enables the extraction of gemstone minerals so they can be made bioavailable to the skin. The stones go through a grinding process to create a powder, which then goes through a unique extraction process to extract the trace minerals the stones contain. These minerals are then stabilised to remain soluble in water, which forms the extracts we then include in our formulations.

Hematite: The stone of grounding and strength
Hematite is a striking gemstone with a metallic sheen and deep, reflective surface that immediately stands out. Known as a stone of stability and protection, it has been used for centuries to anchor energy, encourage focus, and promote balance. Beyond its symbolic meaning, hematite’s bold appearance makes it a favorite in jewelry, wellness practices, and modern skincare rituals.
The name “hematite” comes from the Greek word haima, meaning “blood,” due to its reddish undertone when powdered. Ancient Egyptians used hematite as a protective amulet, while warriors in Rome and Greece carried it into battle for strength and courage. In many cultures, hematite has been linked with grounding energy and connecting to the Earth, making it a trusted stone for stability in times of challenge.
